Announcing our new CEO!
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that a new member of staff will be joining us very soon – Traci Dix-Williams will be our new Chief Executive, and she starts at Easter. We’re all looking forward to welcoming her to the team! Traci, who is currently Operations Director for the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust in Shropshire, will take up the post on 10 April 2017.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Traci to head up our team,” said Jeff Luesley, Chairman of Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust. “With her successful track record in managing the high profile Ironbridge Gorge Museum, we look forward to working with Traci to take Dudley Tunnel & Limestone Mines forward to the next stage of its development as a growing visitor destination.
“Working with our dedicated volunteers, staff and partners, we want to attract more people, maximise the potential of our new Portal Visitor Centre to bring revenue for the Trust to reinvest in the site, and look at opportunities to develop this incredible heritage asset that we care for.
“Sadly after two years with the Trust, during which time he worked with our funding partners to deliver the construction, opening and running of our award-winning Portal Visitor Centre, Nick had to take early retirement due to ill health. I’d like to thank him enormously for all that he has helped us achieve here at Dudley Tunnel & Limestone Mines.”
Traci adds: “I’m looking forward to joining the Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust in April to begin working with trustees, staff, volunteers and partners to maximise the potential of this fantastic heritage attraction.
“Thanks to decades of restoration and development work by the Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust, this wonder of 18th century engineering, with a history dating back 428 million years, already welcomes around 100,000 visitors a year to enjoy boat trips into the tunnel system.”
