Today is Giving Tuesday, an internationally recognised day for supporting good causes. We wanted to take a moment today to thank everyone who has given to us over the years, as well as highlighting the many easy ways there are to give to us today if you’d like to!

In their own words, easyfundraising are “the perfect platform to receive additional support, allowing you to raise money for free when you or your supporters make purchases online at over 2,700 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis and eBay”. Anyone can sign up for a free account, then just click through from the easyfundraising site before they do their online shopping. We then get paid a small amount, depending how much you spent. It’s simple, quick, and can make a big difference – they’ve raised over £14 million for good causes so far!

Onsite Donations

We’re very grateful to our visitors, who are consistently very generous in dropping coins and even notes into our onsite donations boxes. We have two types on site – tradionally painted milk churns on the towpath which are decorated with roses and castles artwork and large perspex boxes you can find both upstairs and downstairs in the Portal building. Fun fact – our large donation boxes are donations themselves! They came from the Natural History Museum in London, where they used to sit in the entrance hall next to Dippy the Diplodocus.

Our onsite donations are very important to us – our visitors contributed a massive £40,000 towards the building of our Portal! If you’d like to help out with some loose coins, just drop them into the boxes or milk churns next time you’re on site.

Second Hand Books

If you’ve visited us in the last few months, you’ll have probably spotted our second hand book shelf upstairs in the Portal building. We have a fantastic range of books from children’s books to cookery books, wildlife books and adult fiction, all available for just a £1 donation. All of our books are donations from kind individuals, so all of every pound you give goes into our funds. Have a look at what’s on offer next time you visit us!

Online Donations

Whenever you book a ticket through our website, you get the chance to add a digital donation to your order. We’re constantly amazed and thankful for the generosity of people, as we get many online donations of this kind each week.

If you’d like to donate online, you’ll see the option to do so when you go to pay for your online bookings.

Telephone Donations

We’re happy to take donations as card payments over the phone! Our team are in the office from 8.30am – 4.30pm every weekday. Just have your card details ready when you phone us on 0121 557 6265 and we’ll be happy to help.

Postal Donations

If you’d like to donate to us in a more traditional method, you can post us a cheque! Cheques should be made payable to Dudley Canal Trust (Trips) Ltd and posted to Dudley Canal Tunnel & Limestone Mines, 501 Birmingham New Road, Dudley, DY1 4SB.

However you donate money to us, we’re exceptionally grateful for every penny. To a charity like us, every little really does help!
