Our Visit to Crick
Today’s post has been written by Traci Dix-Williams, our CEO.
Once again we have returned from a very successful Crick Boat Show. The weather was amazing, the site looked great and they were many additional and new exhibitors.
The show is an excellent way for us to promote both to general public but also to boaters themselves who may not be aware of what is on offer here at Dudley.
With our free 48hr mooring immediately outside, our onsite restaurant the Gongoozler and the service block, staying here could not be easier. If visitors want to bring their own boat through the Dudley Tunnel (depending on it fitting our gauge of course) we organise tow throughs at no charge and in addition to ourselves there is plenty to see with the Black Country Museum, Dudley Zoo and the new Museum and Archives as well as all the offers at Castlegate with its bars, restaurants, cinema and bowling alley.
I am hoping we have convinced many new visitors and boaters to our site by being at Crick and highlighting all we have. We also offered a tombola which proved very popular and despite having many great prizes on our stand it seemed nearly all the adults wanted to win the Curly Wurlys!! As well as our stall, Sagitta our historic boat was also in attendance welcoming people aboard and showing them the work she did in her heyday. Though it got a little uncomfortable at times – 34 degrees at one stage in the marquee and a thunder and lightning storm overnight – all the team really came through and showed just why we are so proud to be part of Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust.
