Portal Construction has Begun

We’re delighted to announce that we’re celebrating a massive boost to our Portal project, having been awarded £500,000 by Biffa Award as their flagship project for this year.

The money will make a considerable difference to the project, a state of the art new centre to improve the visitor experience. Schools, community groups and the general public are amongst the groups who will benefit from the new facilities, particularly the Biffa Award Gallery which has been supported directly by Biffa Award.

“We are thrilled to have received this very generous contribution from Biffa Award”

says Nick Morris, our Chief Executive

“The Portal is such an exciting new development for us and we are delighted to have Biffa Award’s support for the brilliant exhibition gallery.”

The Biffa Award Gallery will give visitors an engaging and informative experience of what lies beneath Castle Hill, from the vitally important geology of Dudley and the Industrial Revolution to the dramatic and emotional story of how the Dudley Tunnel was nearly lost in the 1960s but was saved to become the heritage attraction it is today.
