Wren’s Nest Primary School – Takeover Day 2016

On Friday 18th November, we welcomed year five students from Wren’s Nest Primary School to take over our exhibition space as part of Kids in Museums’ Takeover Day 2016. Takeover Day is a celebration of children and young people’s contributions to museums, galleries, arts organisations, archives and heritage site, when they are given meaningful roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to participate in the life of the organisation.

Students began the morning discovering what curators and exhibition designers do, with a series of fun challenges in our Biffa Award Gallery. In the afternoon, they created an exhibition of their own design on the theme of ‘Victorian Life’.

We were delighted to work with Wren’s Nest Primary School for this project; their students really got stuck into the work and what they’ve produced looks fantastic. They all had a really great time and gave us some lovely feedback.

I’ve enjoyed everything today. I give it 100000/10!

Their work will be on public display in our Portal building for a month in our community exhibition space. We hope their friends and family and the wider public will all come and see what they’ve created for us!
