Bostin Fittle Festival Roundup

Today’s post was written for us by Claire Healy, Volunteer Assistant

Wow! What a weekend we’ve had here at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust; the sun was shining, the beers and ales were flowing and we had a wonderful fair full of stalls with local crafts, baked goods and people telling us all about their communities and local projects. The event was a true celebration of local people, their skills, hobbies and passions.

We also got to watch and clap along to some Morris dancing, taking us back to our roots as well as dancing from Phoenix Creative Dance and some beautiful singing from Lutley Community Voices choir across the weekend. It was wonderful to see people with their drinks on the balcony overlooking the entertainment, I even caught a few people tapping their feet and singing along to the familiar songs; it’s fair to say that This Is Me from the Greatest Showman was definitely a favourite.

Our volunteers, amazing as always, threw themselves into the festival; manning the bar, directing people around the site and all in all ensuring the event ran smoothly, THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

If this is how amazing the first year was I can’t wait to see how much bigger and better next will be.

You can find videos on our Facebook page of both Phoenix Creative Dance and Lutley Community Voices performing over the weekend.
