People & Place Performance Events at the Portal

We’re really looking forward to our new project for young performers – People and Place! Would you like to get involved?

It’s our aim to bring young people’s performances to the canal-side here in Dudley. We’re looking for groups of mainly or entirely under 25s who would like to come along and perform a short set (around 15 minutes, though we’re flexible if you’d need it to be shorter) for our visitors and their supporters. The performances won’t be ticketed and everyone is welcome to come and support the young people.

As the project is titled ‘People and Place’ we’re looking for performances that link the young people to the place they’re performing in. You might choose a song about a boat, a dance inspired by water, something written by a Black Country author or maybe you’ll think of another way to link your performance to us. We’re giving you the chance to be creative with it, which is what you do best!

We’ll be creating a programme of all our People and Place events which will be shared online via our website and social media, as well as advertised within our venue. For this you’ll need to provide a short paragraph about your group and another about the performance you’re doing and how it links to our ‘place’. If you’ve got an image of your group or a logo you can send us this to be included too.

The performances will usually be on a weekend between April and July, to make the most of our busier visitor times. We’d also like to promote the events so we’ll be sending out press releases and sharing images and video of the events on our social media channels.

If that all sounds great and you’d like to be involved, please get in touch by email to sarah@dctt.org.uk! We’ll send you a submission form for you to fill out and send back to us.
