45 minute trip

Discover an ancient hidden underground world - departing every half hour daily

Boat trips are running 7 days a week, with our first boat at 10.30am and the last boat at 4pm. The Portal building is open 10am – 5pm daily.

Marvel at the impressive limestone caverns carved by man to gain access to the raw materials that changed our world forever.

Enjoy a stunning video show in Little Tess Cavern explaining how the limestone was originally formed. Learn how the fossilised remains of small creatures and plants – now clearly visible in Castle Mill’s coral reef – once lay on the sea bed.

See the amazing lifelike reconstructions in Hurst Cavern – with mannequins depicting how miners worked in the tunnels during the 18th century. Delight in the incredible music and light show in the Singing Cavern.

Discover the traditional art of ‘legging’ in the tunnels.

Please bring along either your carer’s network card or your PIP cover letter as carer identification. For our longer trips and special events, carers are eligible for half price tickets. If you have any questions about our carer rates, please get in touch with us.

We regret that no dogs except guide dogs are allowed on site.

We went on the trip through the tunnels and caves which was fascinating. The man in charge knew so much history about the place and with a sense of humour made it a great trip. They do special trips for Halloween and Christmas which sounded great fun. Support this if you can.

The only trip of its kind that I know of in the UK. Excellent guide, place, effects and atmosphere. Even got to leg the narrowboat!

Well, other than AWESOME, it’s enough said.

Easy to get to. Good parking. Friendly staff. Great offers on Wowcher, Groupon etc. The website is informative and their events are varied and if I had the cash I’d be there every day.

I’ve been a few times now and taken my small grandchildren and my grandson had an amazing time. He was only 18 months but he looked at all the things we pointed out.

From 0 to 100, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the time you spend there.
