Bring Your Lessons to Life with an Unforgettable Education Trip

Dudley Canal & Caverns are delighted to invite you to a specially designed Home Educator’s Day at Dudley Canal and Caverns on Tuesday 28th April, from 10:00am to 2:00pm

Curriculum-Aligned Workshops:
Our interactive workshops are designed to enhance your students’ learning, providing real-world connections to the topics you’re teaching. Our expert facilitators will make the subject come alive, sparking curiosity and deepening understanding.

What to Expect:
The day includes a local history workshop, Life on a Working Boat, where children will discover what life was like for boating families who lived and worked aboard narrowboats. This is followed by a guided boat trip through our atmospheric underground tunnels and caverns—an unforgettable journey into the industrial heritage of the Black Country.

Additionally, children will take part in a creative craft session and visit Sagitta, one of our historic narrowboats. Here, they’ll gain insight into the compact living conditions of working boat families and the vital role canals played in transporting goods across the country.

The day also includes a Water Safety Workshop, equipping children with essential knowledge about staying safe around waterways—an important life skill.
