British Empire Medal Ceremony at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust

Lyn Head, a long-term volunteer and Trustee at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust receives her British Empire Medal.

After receiving notification of her British Empire Medal in the New Year’s Honours list – Lyn Head was finally able to receive her actual medal in a ceremony held at the Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust on Friday 17th November 2023.

The medal presented by Sir John Crabtree OBE, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands was worn proudly by Lyn in a ceremony attended by The Mayor and Consort, Councillor Andrea Goddard and Councillor James Clinton.

Lyn was supported by her family, her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren as well as members of Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust staff and trustees and Chit Chat.

Sir John read out the original citation about Lyn before presenting her with her medal and Deputy Chair Paul Smith captured just some of the community groups, charities and individuals that Lyn had helped to support through her amazing efforts over the year.

Lyn took the opportunity to thank everyone who had helped her over the years, especially her family for their support and patience. Prosecco, cake and lots of catching up then took place before guests reluctantly made their way home.

Sir John Crabtree thanked the organisers and said it was one of the best events he had been to, and he was so pleased that Lyn had insisted the event was held at the Trust.

Congratulations Lyn we are all so proud of you.
